Small Town Struggling for Development



Kaushaltar is a beautiful place situated in the eastern side of Kathmandu .Kaushaltar is well known destination among the local people here as the Araniko Highway passes through here to the border of nepal up to Kodari(CHINA).
Kaushaltar (sometimes also spelt as 'kausaltar’) derives its name because of its plain geographical structure. It is said that kaushaltar comprises of two words Kaushal and Tar which in Nepali language is called 'good' and 'Plain land' respectively... The plain land came into light when the Araniko highway was established passing through it. It is believed that it was discovered in 19th century. Till then, it was a plain cultivated land... After the early 40s it is assumed that Kaushaltar was stepping towards the sustainable development.Kaushaltar has been blessed with all the natural bounties, one can think of. Dwelling on a panoramic location, kaushaltar is surrounded by green pastures. Bulging at its seams with unprecedented expansion, Kaushaltar retains its colonial heritage, with some of the historic buildings and ancient places... The Departmental store, with availability of almost every thing, is one of the centres of attraction of this beautiful place. And other groceries, clinic and entertainment place is being arising with the advancement of a time.

The etymology and history seems interesting. What is your source for the history of kaushaltar? I once thought kaushaltar came from kushal bhairav?
